Gary Bennett, you're my hero!

I first saw them in Section 350... Katie and Karl were in town this weekend! It was great to see them! It was an anniversary celebration. Congrats to them on the one year mark! Hopefully I will have the picture from the game that is on Katie's camera soon!

Backup catcher Gary Bennett was the hero in Saturday and Sunday's games against the Cubs this weekend. He hit a solo homerun and a walk off hit on Saturday. Then Sunday, with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth, he hit a grand slam. Did I see it you may ask? Saturday, yes, I was there. However, Sunday, I was at home in the apartment with no cable. We pay $100 for a phone that we do not use but we don't have cable which would cost about $60 with internet. I think I am no longer the new roommate, and I am going to attempt to change that!

I am currently procrastinating. I should be doing homework or planning but I do not want to. It was a good day. My G period told me I was pretty (aren't they sweet!) That was shortly after I threatened to glue them to their chairs though. My cousin's roommate wants to be a high school math teacher, but she is having second thoughts. I am trying to figure out what to tell her. I am going with the we really need good math teachers who really want to be there talk. Any good stories about favorite teachers, especially math??

Only 170 more days to go!

I have decided that it is bad when the teacher is counting down the days until summer on the first actual day of school. Actually, today was just a long day. We had all 8 periods and that makes the day go a million times slower. My classes are all bigger than last year, except one. And only one seems really challenging. The group is just crazy and goofy. They were very loud today. Hopefully that is just a first day back thing. My room is a disaster-- I cannot find anything. Except the girls have no idea because the mess is hidden in the cabinet. I am actually excited about the year, I just need to get back into the groove.

I suppose my lack of enthusiasm has to do with no sleep all weekend. After school Friday, I went to lunch and margaritas with Josh and Dan. Then Friday night was 80s band. We went and hung out. It was the cute drummer's last weekend, so we had to say goodbye. Then headed to Erica and Rob's house. We finally went to bed about 4:30. I could not sleep, so I was a little exhausted the next day. Saturday I went to Riddles which is one of my new favorites for a couple reasons:
1. It is a wine bar with a huge selection.
2. The wine comes in a little carafe, and you get way more than just one glass.
3. They have music 6 nights a week.
4. They have awesome food.
5. And most importantly, it is only about 5 blocks away. It can't get much better than that when you are drinking wine.

So I went with Josh and friends. I did go home early though. My roommate came home from a bachelorette party, and she kept me planty entertained at 3am. She passed out with all the lights on, in her clothes while talking on the phone!

Off to do school work.... I cannot believe it is already here!!

Drama Rama

So here I am at school wasting time because everything that I need to do is in my room and someone is having a workshop. So I am back in my old room visiting Josh. Plus, I ran off tons of stuff that I need for the first few days of school. Congrats to me for being that far ahead. In an hour, I go out to front campus to watch the Seniors do a ropes course for 4 hours. Fun fun!

A student from last year just came in. We did not get along that well. She got really excited when she saw me though and gave me a huge hug. One of those questions-- did I really make that big of an impact to her??? Something to think about. She was upset that I don't have her this year, so we will just see.

My roommate Elaine decided to move out. So now I am stuck in the middle of drama, and poor Mary is going to be living probably with 2 people she hardly knows. Another teacher may move in with us. That is not a good plan in my opinion because that is three girls trying to use one shower and one bathroom to get to work by 7 or 7:30 every morning. Sounds like a pain! Should be interesting... more to come.

Sad, Sad Day

Today is officially the last day of summer. Tomorrow at this time, I will be doing the meeting thing, and Wednesday girls. Tomorrow's meeting is about 4 hours of prayer and reflection. I must come up with a random act of kindness that I performed or was the recipient of. Homework for the teachers, even before school starts??? I have tons to do already! I love procrastination!

This weekend was Karen's wedding. I got to see tons of people from high school-- everyone is married. Kinda fun to be one of the only one scoping out the single lawyers. There were some cute ones! Stephanie was in the wedding, 2 1/2 weeks after having Aiden. She looks amazing! She said that she already weighs less than she did before she was pregnant! Lucky, lucky girl. She also has a great baby. He was so good, even though we played pass the baby for hours at the reception.

On this, my wonderful last day of summer, I have to head out to tutor, get things laminated, pay for school, and run errands. So here I go.... bye summer, i will miss you!

I am a slacker!

I have been a crazy person and have had no time to blog. Today is the first time since Saturday that I have been in my apartment for purposes other than sleeping. It is kind of nice. Last week of summer. I start back for meetings next Tuesday. And I saw lots of students when I was up at school yesterday. They were cute an excited. I was a little nervous about Jayme who saw me, screamed my name, and came running full speed ahead down the hall toward me. I dodged to my right because I feared being knocked over on my back. I realized that although I missed them, I am not quite ready for their craziness again. Oh well not really a choice.

Congratulations to Angie who is pregnant! I am very excited for her! Baby spoiling here I come!
